Type Locality and Naming

Southeast Taiwan. The type section is located at Dagangkou Village, near Xiuguluanxi River, in Haian Range in Taiwan Province. It was named and surveyed by Xu T in 1956. Original definition in He (1986).

Synonym: Yakangkou Fm


Lithology and Thickness

It is characterized by shale, sandstone, conglomerate and clastic rock. Foraminifera and Calcareous nannofossils are yielded. The thickness is 3000-4000 m.


Lithology Pattern: 
Clayey sandstone


Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It contacts to the underlying Zhoulan Fm, but the relation is unclear. Regionally, next older (and partly coeval) unit is the Liji Fm

Upper contact

It contacts to the overlying Guizhulin Fm,, but the relation is unclear.

Regional extent

The formation is distributed in area around Xiuguluanxi River (Haian Range).

Fossils

Globigerina nepenthes, Globorotalia tumida, Pulleniatina obliquiloculata, Sphaeroidinella dehiscens, Pararotalia taiwanica, Reticulofenestra pseudoumbilica, Sphenolithus abies, Pseudoemiliania lacunose, Discoaster quinqueramus.
